ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:

1. Global System for Mobile communication(GSM)

  • GSM phones have made text messaging a daily occurrence in many places around the world
  • The phone works based on SIM card and hence it is easy to change the different varieties of phones by users.
  • Required credit to send message or calls
2. Blynk
  • Blynk works over the Internet. So the one and only requirement is that the hardware can talk to the Internet
  • Blynk works out of the box: no new languages to learn, no additional software to install and no long documentation reading.
  • Blynk also works over USB. This means you can tinker with the app by connecting it to your laptop or desktop while waiting for some internet shield to arrive.
3. From Journal 1
From this article, the project is about plant watering system using internet of things (IOT). This journal propose a smart watering system with smart control and intelligent decision making based on accurate real time field data. Other than that, this journal also highlighted the way to monitor the operation of plant watering system via android application in any smartphone. The main body for the prototype contains an Arduino NodeMCU microcontroller. This project are using three sensors which is soil moisture sensor, humidity and temperature sensor and level sensor. The sensors send the data to the Arduino board which will trigger the water pump to turn on and it will supply the water to the plant. The water pump will turn off when the moisture level reached the system halts on its own. Water pump will operates and pump the water to the tank if the water level is low. Lastly, the information about the agriculture field will be send to android application on the smartphone.

4. From Journal 2
This journal is about plant watering system that using PIC16F877A microcontroller based layout which is it controls the water supply and the sector to be irrigated. There are sensors present which is soil moisture sensor and humidity sensor, which are not activated till the water is present on the sector. As soon as the sphere receives dry sensors, it will sense the requirement of water within the area and it send a signal to microcontroller. The microcontroller then delivered the water to that specific field that have water requirement till the sensors is deactivated again. In case, while there are multiple signals for water requirement and the fields will irrigated. This project are presently use a PIC16F877A microcontroller as the primary component to control the sensor and the motor pump.

5. From Journal 3
Hobbies that the elderly are fascinated is in planting the flowers, which can make them proud when the trees are growing. Therefore, the IOT planting for elderly that will controlled by using Android application has been proposed in this journal. This application will reduces the space between elderly and technology. The IOT planting was develop for the elderly with arduino technology. The HTTP server is used with the web server for monitoring the plant activity. By using Arduino mobile application, the elderly can control this prototype which they can see the plant via monitoring menu which is a real time communication and between the application and ip-camera. The data will be collected in real time by employing temperature and humidity sensor, and soil moisture sensor and send it to arduino. The arduino will send the data by using HTTP protocol to PHP server every second.

CONCLUSION: There is a few ways that can be used to get the information about the conditions of our plants.

Week 5 : Problem Statement

OBJECTIVES: 1. To know the problem faced by people nowadays regarding how they can watering their plant during holidays.

            2. Make a project to make their life easier so that they can control the system from a long distance away.

           3. To be able to control the amount of water that reaches the plants.

RESULTS : 1.
People who are interested in gardening or those who plant flowers find it difficult to leave their plants even if they go on vacation because they are worried that their plants will wilt and eventually die.
2. The same thing happens also with flower or plant entrepreneurs, which is, it is difficult for them to monitor their plants whether they have been watered or have not yet they have other plants to be look after too.

METHODS: 1. Do a research on how the system works.

ANALYSIS: During holidays, most people are too lazy to water the potted plants on their rooftop gardens every day. There are many reasons people decide to setup a self watering system. Whether they are planning several vacations and day trips over the holidays, or just have a busy schedule where watering the garden is not at the top of the list. Having an automatic plant watering system is one of those gadgets that helps make daily life just a little bit easier.

CONCLUSION: The problem faced by the people regarding on how they can watering their plants have been identified. 'Plant Watering System' is a project that can make their life easier to control their plants in a long distance. The system can control the amount of water that reaches the plants.

Thursday 1 February 2018

INTRODUCTION

HYE ! This is my new entry for my final year project (FYP). First of all let me introduce my project. This project is selected by Mr. Ahmad Zaki Abdul Karim which is my supervisor. The title for my project is Plant Watering System. This project aims to drain the water when the soil is dry and this ensures that the soil at the tree is not dry and moist.
Nowadays, many people are facing a lot of problems watering the plants in the garden, especially when they are away from home. In such cases, watering plants become difficult as they are involved in other works. Without losing their time and efforts, many people can avail a better option in the form of an automatic plant watering system that helps watering the plants in the garden.
This automatic plant watering system senses soil moisture using soil moisture sensor, and then automatically switches the pump when the power is available. A proper use of the water to the plants is most important due to lack of rain and shortage of water. For this reason, we use this automatic plant watering system as it is very useful in all climatic conditions.
